FEATURE STORY The Grand Slam Man

Melbourne’s tears of anguish are now Paris’ tears of joy. And, it seems, reports of Roger Federer’s decline have been greatly exaggerated.

From the Editor...

For tennis purists, the Roland Garros-Wimbledon swing is as good as it gets. After the dust settled last year the events read like a movie script: Rafael Nadal becomes the first man in 30 years to claim the French-Wimbledon double by denying Roger Federer a sixth straight Wimbledon crown in perhaps the greatest match ever.

Incredibly, this year's storylines could be even more compelling. After Roger Federer took out Nadal in the final of Madrid - where Novak Djokovic also held three match points against the Spaniard - Nadal could face his toughest challenge yet in Paris as he chases a record fifth straight title. At Wimbledon, will tennis fans be blessed with another Federer-Nadal final? Or could Andy Murray break the British title drought? We examine all the angles.

And learn more about France's quiet achiever and Top 10 member Gilles Simon. Plus, read what drives Chinese Taipei's first Top 100 player, Yen-Hsun 'Rendy' Lu.
